The London Funk & Soul Club

I worked on the logo, branding and promotional material for Soundcrash's monthly London Funk & Soul Club with Studio Plec. An adapted logo was later used for The London Funk & Soul Weekender, a yearly festival.

The artwork was required to reflect the flavour of funk and soul music whist remaining classy and avoiding retro clichΓ©s.

Logo Development

I created a bespoke typographic logo with dramatic swashes and ball terminals, inspired by 1970s high-contrast fonts.

Branding and Art Direction

The Studio worked with Soundcrash to develop a consistent look and feel for The London Funk & Soul Club’s monthly events. Each event had a different line up and needed to feel distinct whilst remaining part of the same visual brand.

Like the logo, the art direction for the promotional material was inspired by 1970s design, particularly self-published club posters. We created a collage effect for each poster to create a stylish, β€˜underground’ vibe.

We used a differing colour palette and key image of an iconic funk and soul performer for each event.
